You might be surprised to know that video gaming generally uses very little bandwidth. For most modern games you can expect something in the region of 40MB and 150MB with favourites like Fortnite and Call of Duty falling well within this range at 100MB and 80MB respectively.

Of course some things like voice chat for example, which is often used with online, multi-player games will require more bandwidth but it is still not significant in comparison to other things such as video streaming apps which can use up to 3GB an hour.

The simple answer is, no. A typical family home may have ten or more devices all taking up bandwidth. As mentioned, video streaming apps are some the greediest, far surpassing a typical online game.

Guarantees

Speed Guarantee: Comes with any Sky Broadband product. If the download speed to your Sky Hub drops below your guaranteed minimum download speed for three consecutive days or more, you will have the right to leave your broadband and Talk contracts without incurring early termination charges from that point until 30 days after us confirming that the issue can’t be resolved. You can also upgrade your broadband product without any upfront fees.

This applies anytime within your minimum term. Total loss of service and Major Service Outages do not count towards three-day periods, such as if your broadband stops working completely, or you can’t use the internet on any of your devices and it’s not a WiFi problem. Sky fibre customers can also claim money back under this speed guarantee by calling Sky. You must be within your minimum term and can claim once within it. WiFi Guarantee with Boost:  Available to new Ultrafast customers and as a re-contract for existing customers with Sky Broadband Boost.
